Researcher in Residence

@ 7pm

Heather Keung is an emerging artist and curator from Toronto, Ontario who graduated from OCAD in 2003 from the Integrated Media program. Her artistic and curatorial practices both examine issues of identity, intimacy and physical experience through the use of media – video, installation and performance art. Inspired by repetitive daily actions and physical labour, her current media work looks at involuntary responses, habitual social behaviours and the training of the mind and body. An active contributor to the media arts community in Toronto, she has worked with Images Festival of Independent Film and Video, Planet in Focus Film Festival, Trinity Square Video, and Vtape. Keung is Artistic Director of the Toronto Reel Asian International Film and Video Festival.

Artist’s Presentations, February 26, 7 PM, Colourschool

Keung will be taking a two-pronged approach to her research in Vancouver, looking into both creative avenues. First, she will be developing the concepts and execution plans for two new video series: The Little Things and The Power Of Scale. Her body of work and these new projects will be presented in the form of an in-progress presentation/artist talk at colourschool, February 26, 2008.

Visitors’ Presentations: February 27, 12 – 4 PM, Colourschool

Keung will also be conducting studio visits with Vancouver-based artists for film, video and media/installation presentations at the Reel Asian International Film Festival (Toronto, November 2008). Visitors are invited to make studio visits with Keung at colourschool, February 27, 2008. Interested parties can arrange times in advance by contacting programming@reelasian.com.
