New Society

This elaborate and ambitious performance utilized every person and piece of gear available. The audience sat around the edge of the room while two grand pianos played simultaneous improvisations, two 16mm projectors screened Peter Lorre in The Man Who Knew Too Much, one playing the first half forward, the other playing the second half backward, while a video camera panned the crowd. Meanwhile, the artist was stoned on acid, naked and howling in a cage that had been specially constructed in the attic (which is still there) as a camera slowly dollied towards him across the rafters, the slow zoom image relayed to the audience below. In the middle of the show, Al Razutis attempted to sabotage the show by disconnecting cables and had to be restrained.
