Photoprints and laserprints of digital imagery created using original software developed at the Western Front. In collaboration with Eric Metcalfe and others. Kye Goodwin was one of the first to fully exploit the system’s potential to create images completely in the electronic realm. Etude was the name given the system software. Bob Richardson wrote the original programs, to which Kye added a large number of tools. The two would begin each day by setting some process in motion. Then they would go to lunch, discuss the problem, and come back to see what the machine had done. Etude was inspired by the work of Bill Etra and Woody Vasulka. It has been installed at the Banff Centre, SUNY Buffalo, OCA Toronto and various private studios.
