“Everybody dreams in Haiti. Haiti is a land of dreams. Also the people of the island believe in a future which, however impracticable, will come to pass one day. Humans will run with animals and running will be fucking.”
—Kathy Acker

Documentation of a reading, which was part of the American Writers Series. Kathy Acker had first surfaced with her own serial publication, The Secret Life of the Black Tarantula, installments of which would arrive in the mail and which Kate Craig carefully kept. Acker read from the manuscript of her new novel, Kathy Goes to Haiti, as well as from Fairy Tale Adult Life of Toulouse Lautrec and Raw Heat.

Kathy is a middle-class white girl who has written many books. The Childlike Life of the Black Tarantula, I Dreamt I was a Nymphomaniac Imagining, The Adult Life of Toulouse Lautrec, Blood and Guts in Highschool. Between these books animals peep like the deliberate parts of a patchworks quilt whose geometry isn’t doubted.
