Shweta Jhaveri is a classical vocalist of Hindustani and world music. Specializing in the North Indian classical vocal forms Khayal, Tappa, Thumri, and Bhajans, and trained in the traditional Indian ‘gharanas’ apprenticeship system, Jhaveri began to study vocal music at age six. Studying under vocal teachers including Pt Vilas Khandekar and Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj in the 1970s-1990s, Jhaveri has since performed across India, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Her voice was featured in the 1998 film Dance of the Wind.
