Haunted: The Dominion Building

/ Opening @ 8:00pm

Brady Cranfield’s exhibition consists of a sound installation using a field recording made on the inside spiral staircase in one of downtown Vancouver’s original office structures, the Dominion Trust Building, completed in 1910. Upon entering the gallery, the listener is confronted with a near empty space with speakers installed in respective corners. In dissolving the physical boundaries of the Dominion Trust Building, Cranfield explores the site of the building through recorded audio, subtly connecting concerns of architecture, place and the colonial histories invoked through the name of the building, which has renewed significance in today’s global political climate.
