The following text is taken from Front Magazine, vol. VI, no. 1, p. 23, September/October 1994:
For the last three years, Daniel Scheidt and Robert Kyr have been collaborating on a series of software compositions for solo pianist and computer-controlled piano. They are currently working on a new piece which extends the musical environment available to Kyr during performance. Under the working title Extended Gamelan, the new work involves multiple keyboards, a piano tuned to a Balinese scale, and sampled gamelan sounds. Kyr will improvise within three distinct sound worlds: piano, gamelan, and something between. Scheidt will be developing new software with performance behaviour specific to each timbral environment.
