Western Front is pleased to welcome New York City based artist Erin Shirreff as artist in residence. Born in Kelowna, British Columbia, Shirreff received a BFA from the University of Victoria and an MFA in Sculpture from Yale University.
Shirreff works with multiple media including sculpture, photography and video to interrogate images of landmarks and artifacts. Shirreff investigates the way in which images of objects, architecture and landscape shape memory and vision. Through subtle manipulation, Shirreff draws attention to the role of the camera in the production images and experience.
At Western Front Media Art Shirreff will conduct research towards a new body of photographic work that will investigate the sculptural properties of landscape. She will also work towards the producing a video based on a found image of Okanagan Lake.
Please join us for a conversation between artists Erin Shirreff, and Anthony Pearson with Presentation House Gallery Director Reid Shier.
