Join us for Western Front’s annual event for kids, Adults are So Last Year, which invites kids of all ages for an afternoon of hands on activities. Presented in collaboration with local artists and musicians, kids can take part in a number of different workshops, games, and exercises.

Lianne Zannier and Heather Smith will host an animation workshop where you will learn the basics of hand-drawn animation resulting in a collaborative animated film! Throughout the day they will also showcase how to create an early animation toy from the 19th century called a thaumatrope that you can take home with you. Expand your mind and have fun.
Batteries not included! Join Sound Artist Alanna Ho in making music with a collection of very special vintage analog toys! Learn how drawings can become sound by making your very own graphic score and hear it played back by the Toy Orchestra. Suitable for ages 4+
What does a toothbrush sound like? How about a marble? Listen and play with the many tiny sounds all around us with Sound Artist Alanna Ho! Suitable for ages 2+
Greenhorn Community Music Project
This roving youth community marching band is not like others you might see at high school band concerts -they’ve got moves, costumes and all kinds of performance tricks! Catch them marching all around Dude Chilling Park and outside the Western Front on the half hour from 2-3pm.
Learn to make colourful patterns and imprints on fabric using flowers and natural dyes with artists Derya Akay and Vivienne Bessette.
