Submission Guidelines


Artists are selected in three ways for a residency - through biannual thematic Calls for Proposals, through our ongoing Open Call, and through research. To be added to our e-list, which includes thematic Calls for Proposals and information on programming activities, please email media@front.bc.ca

Artists of all levels of experience are strongly encouraged to apply, as are those from diverse backgrounds. Applications from artists from other disciplines who wish to expand their creative practices into media arts are equally welcomed.

Submissions are accepted anytime to our ongoing Open Call and are reviewed by the Director/Curator of Media Arts. Media Arts activities are scheduled between 12 to 18 months in advance. Submissions will be returned only if accompanied by a stamped self-addressed envelope.

Submissions should include:

  • 1. Artist's Statement (300 words)
  • 2. Project Proposal (300 words)
  • 3. Curriculum vitae (3 pages)
  • 4. Support material on CD or DVD
  • 5. Support material description with media, title and year of production
  • 6. Self-addressed stamped envelope

    • Please do not send original masters. The Western Front is not responsible for lost or damaged materials. Questions may be directed to media@front.bc.ca.
