DESCRIPTION
The Western Front Society is seeking a creative and entrepreneurial individual to fill the (part-time) contract position of Development Officer.
The Western Front Society is an artist-run-centre, founded in 1973 as a space for the exploration of contemporary art. It is the mandate of the Society to support the research, creation and presentation of work by emerging and established contemporary artists in all disciplines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Executive Director and working closely with the staff team, board and Foundation Board, the Development Officer will:
· Evaluate and maximize existing fundraising strategies, including special events, grants, in-kind donations, and major gifts
· Cultivate prospective individual donors and major gifts
· Research and solicit potential corporate donors and sponsors
· Coordinate recognition and stewardship of current donors
· Develop and implement an annual membership campaign
· Create donor-related communication materials, including solicitation and gift acknowledgment letters
· Assist with annual fundraising events
· Attend meetings of the Board of Directors and Foundation Board as required
· Participate in the WF Fundraising Committee meetings, and other appropriate committees as required
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have:
· A minimum of three years experience in fund development for the non-profit sector
· A successful track record in grant writing, sponsorship proposals, and membership and donor campaigns
· CFRE certification, AFP membership, and/or CAGP membership
· University or College degree in fund development, business administration, public relations or related field
· Proven proficiency in donation records processing and database management (FileMaker Pro)
· Strong communication and project management skills
· Ability to multi-task in a team environment, as well as independently
REMUNERATION: $28,500 per annum
