“Youth Voices / Youth Faces” is an exhibition that brings together two projects – Loveable and Sonic Playground - that explore the creative potential of sound art, photography, and storytelling. Western Front’s contribution, Sonic Playground, cultivates aspiring musicians, poets and sound designers from Metro Vancouver high schools. Experience their creative journey through poetry artifacts, images, listening stations and video game consoles.

Students from Burnaby North Secondary Music and Technology Program explore the city, nature, love and everyday life with looping beatbox, storytelling, hip hop, electronics, video triggers and cornstarch. Hear how they transform found sounds into aural montages in their music concrete compositions; see the result of video/audio mash ups undertaken by these adventurous youth! Their mentors are Bracken Hanuse Corlett, Josh Hite, Viviana Caro, Aleksandar Zecevic, and Remy Siu. More info >>

Youth from Kitsilano and Fleetwood Park Secondary schools make their poetry come to life with music in the Spoken Word and Music performances. Under the guidance of musicians/poets Elisa Thorn and Adam Gough, you won’t believe what these youth have to say and how they say it!
