Scrivener’s Monthly welcomes poet Layli Long Soldier for a reading from her forthcoming book Whereas. Written in response to the Congressional Resolution of Apology to Native Americans signed by Barack Obama in 2009, Long Soldier’s project addresses the language and delivery of the Apology. Following the reading, Long Soldier will be joined by curator cheyanne turions for a conversation about her work.
Layli Long Solider is a graduate of the MFA program at Bard College in New York and her writing has appeared in The American Poet, American Indian Journal of Culture and Research, PEN America, The Brooklyn Rail, and Mud City, among others. She lives in Tsaile, AZ on the Navajo Nation.
