Cold Friends, Warm Cash, an iteration of Phillips’ ongoing project Workshop (2010 – ), takes over the gallery as a site of both production and exhibition. Using the physical space of the institution and its supporting infrastructure, Phillips will turn the gallery into a simple screen printing studio which will serve as a place for discussion mediated through the process of making things together. Situated within the context of her own prints, Phillips will be using this exhibition and residency to develop new artworks, placing the interests of children at the heart of the project. Local kids aged 6 – 10 years old are invited to visit the gallery to learn how to screen print collaboratively with Phillips to create posters, magazines and printed fabrics.
