The following text is taken from Front Magazine, vol. V, no. 2, p. 6, November/December 1993:
Oscar McLennan and Anne Seagrave are performance artists from Ireland, whose original, imaginative and lively shows have been presented extensively throughout Europe and the USA. During their residencies at the Western Front, Anne Seagrave produced two videos: The Keeping and The Title Role, and Oscar McLennan produced Helicopter Man.
The Keeping: A video production in which a woman covered in white fabric lays in different positions with different masks and other visuals around her head. Video appears only in a central trapezoid on the screen.
The Title Role: A video production in which audio from movies is played while people wear white paper over their heads, with the faces of said actors on them.
Helicopter Man: A video production produced during McLennan’s residency in November 1993. In the first half of the tape, it contains narration about multiple stories involving McLennan’s parents, McLennan and others. All the narrations are tied to a positive image of Vancouver. The second half is told by other people who speak about Vancouver, so as to shatter the image provided by the earlier narrations.
